Psalm 62:7 In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God.
Psalm 62:8 Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah.
I want to continue to look at our verses from yesterday. Particularly in the last word, Selah.
As you know, the Book of Psalms was originally Israel’s hymnbook. A collection of songs and meditations used in the worship of Jehovah. The word Selah was inserted by the composer to convey to the choir and orchestra conductor, emphasis needed here. It came to mean a pause, but the root meaning of the word is weigh or value. It other words Selah means to place weight or value on what is being said. It is often defined this way,’ what do you think about that?’
It is a compelling definition and question. What do you think of these statements? Do you really trust our God? Is your relationship as secure as it should be? (If not the shakiness is on your part not His. Remember He is our Rock!) So secure that you do open up to Him, you pour your heart out to our Him.
I can just hear someone say but, but, but. I know these can be tough questions, but you really have to ask yourself do I really believe my God is my refuge. Some may think this is a theological question but ultimately it is not. It is a faith question. Do you really believe you have a refuge?
You do, but only if by faith you run to the rock, stand on it, stand under its overhang, and be sheltered by it. The Lord is My Rock.
Be Blessed,
Bro. Dewayne
