Luke 24:25-26

25 Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken:

26 Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory?

Since we have spent some time looking at the sufferings of our Lord in Philippians 3:10 I thought we would look at what Jesus said about His sufferings. Look at our verses above. Jesus is telling these “Emmaus Road” disciples that it was right for Christ to have suffered. Why? Because it was what led to Him entering into a glory all of His own.

I believe a special glory but I do not want to concentrate on this glory. I want to think about His sufferings. Sufferings that we too often read on by and do not consider. We have heard about them, read about them, taught about them, and even heard them preached about. Yet, I fear we do not take them to heart.  May-be we find it hard to hear about or think about? We do not want to face the fact that He went through this for us.

Another reason is I fear we do not want to think about His sufferings, it “puts a lid on,” complaining about our suffering.  It also forces us to consider how much Jesus valued us and how little value we often place on Him and the relationship He suffered and bled and died to provide.

Oh, my friend, today join me in adjusting the value we place on our Wonderful Savior! Do not just cry out Lord You ARE Worthy. Live in a fashion that everyone sees you believe HE IS WORTHY!

Let me tell you a story about my grandson, Hunter that I think will bring it into perspective. Today his Bible lesson was about how the soldiers beat Jesus before they put Him on the cross. The description broke his heart. So much so, he ran and climbed up in his mother’s lap and sobbed, saying, “Why did they do that to Him? Why- He never hurt anyone. They should respect Him!”

I think we should look again at the suffering of our Savior and say Thank you, Jesus, for loving me so much! I want to love you more and more in return.
