Psalm 56:1-4 (KJV)
¹  Be merciful unto me, O God: for man would swallow me up; he fighting daily oppresseth me.
²  Mine enemies would daily swallow me up: for they be many that fight against me, O thou most High.
³  What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee.
⁴  In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me.

 Fear, it is a reality. Fear of failure. Fear of tomorrow, fear of what the future holds. None of us knows. Only God does. What do we do?

 From everything I see in Scripture, there are two things we must do. We are to trust God and praise Him. By trusting Him, we are saying I believe you, Lord, are faithful. That you want what is best for me. Romans 8:28 is true that ‘all things do work together good.’ That is the reason verse 4 above tells us to “in God I will praise his word” It is only through God’s Word that we know of his sovereignty and his love and care for us. Praising Him in the valley is hard sometimes. But remember over and over again in God’s Word we are told He is with us.

 Our wonderful Father is there with you. You can depend on that. You can rest in that. Even when you are at your ropes end, hang on. Call on the Lord, ask for help! Even when you do not know what to say or how to pray, just breathe the name of Jesus and He will be there. He knows what we need before we even ask.

 Rest in the fact that God loves you and is with you especially in your valley of difficulty and despair. He will restore your soul.
