Isaiah 55:6-9 (KJV)
6 Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:
7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.
8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.
9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
Seek the Lord, that is my theme for today. The prophet Isaiah, starts this chapter by saying “every one that is thirsty come.” In verse 6, He uses the word “Seek.” According to Strong’s the word means “to tread frequently, to seek after, to pursue.” All with the intent to worship! That is the primary responsibility of man, to worship God. To know HIM!
We will never know Him, until we begin with worshipping Him; that is coming to God humbly admitting we do not deserve the least of His mercies, but we are eternally grateful for all He is and He does, for us.
We must start with who He is. The Great I AM! The Eternal God of the Universe. That’s Him. Do You Know Him?
That is the real question. Some may say “How can I know Him?” Here is the picture in my mind. With the use of the word “seek.” My mind goes to “coon hunting.” I have been one time in my life but I remember(I have also seen it on television), when the dogs were released, someone would holler ‘Look fer him, look fer him.’ The dogs would then take off looking for a raccoon. The idea of seek is for us to be just like those coon dogs, no matter the obstacle they keep looking, they keep ‘seeking’ until they have treed the coon!
We must have a determination to seek after our Great God no matter the obstacles, and there will be obstacles. Tomorrow we will talk about the obstacles, for today, “Seek the Lord!”
Be Blessed,
