Isaiah 55:6-9 (KJV)
6 Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:
7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.
8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.
9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
Obstacles. They are everywhere. No matter what you seek to do, whether it is of a spiritual nature or it’s a New Year’s resolution, or a determination to change some area of your life you have to fight. Our flesh, the natural man, wants to be in control.
In whatever arena you are in you must fight. Whenever you hear anyone talk about improvement, Nick Saban in football, John Maxwell in leadership they almost always begin with the thought of self-discipline. Solomon in Scripture put it like this Proverbs 25:28 (KJV) He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls.
Any advance in life requires discipline. What is self-discipline?
According to Collins Dictionary “the act of disciplining or power to discipline one’s own feelings, desires, etc., especially with the intention of improving oneself.”
If you and I are going to ‘seek the Lord,’ we will have to determine in our heart that we will fight the battle to tell our flesh it is not in control any longer. You have determined a new course for your life!
Your obstacles will be different than others. No bigger or smaller than anybody else’s. It is the same fight for all. You will lose sometimes, fall down, revert back to old habits, but the Spirit of God will convict you about it and will HELP you to get back up and go at it again. Just like learning to ride a bike or a horse when you fall, get up, get back on and go at it again.
You Can Do This! Seek the Lord while He is near, while He is speaking to you. Tell Him you Want To Know Him. You will find it was Him that put the desire in you to begin with.
Just Do It.
Be Blessed,
Bro. Dewayne
