Matthew 27:58 He went to Pilate and begged the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded the body to be delivered.
Matthew 27:59 And when Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth,
Matthew 27:60 And laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock: and he rolled a great stone to the door of the sepulcher, and departed.
It is Saturday. The Body of Jesus is laying in a tomb, outside the gates of Jerusalem. It is cold, dark, damp, and lonely. He IS dead. Not just passed out but dead. HE has willingly laid down HIS life. But, wait Jesus had promised that HE was the Resurrection and the Life.
Something has gone desperately wrong. So many had counted on HIM to be the Messiah. What are they going to do?
You will find them huddled together, in fear, in a room. They are whispering, not wanting the authorities to notice them or hear them.
It sounds like Christians of today does it not? I realize we are thinking of and celebrating Easter in different ways this year but that is not what I am thinking of. We so often and too many times act like those scared and fearful early followers of JESUS. We do not want people to notice us as sincere followers of JESUS, as different from everyone else. Yet, that is exactly who we are and what we should be. The resurrection of JESUS CHRIST from the dead should be the catalyst that propels us into Bold and Purposeful Witnesses that HE is Alive and coming again for you and me.
It may be Saturday, but “Sunday’s a coming”.
Halleluiah what a Saviour!
Be Blessed,
Bro. Dewayne
