Philippians 3:10 That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;

We will end our look at Philippians 3:10 today. In our last peak, I want to focus on the last phrase being made conformable unto his death. This thought always draws me back to Gethsemane.

Let’s tip-toe quietly in our minds into the Garden of Gethsemane, our Lord laying out before the Father sweating great drops of blood, in agony over the prospect of being separated from His Father. See, in your mind’s eye, Jesus crying out, may-be not in a loud vocal voice, but in a soft voice full of pain and agony. He does not want the fellowship that He enjoys with His Father broken or disrupted. He has always done things to please Him. He has been the perfect son.

Now in this critical hour, Jesus was called upon to do the unfathomable, suffer broken fellowship from the Father. He is asked to taste what spiritual death, separation from God, is. A place of no hope, a place of loneliness and despair.

There is a great battle going on. It has brought great agony to Jesus. What will He do?

Jesus sets the example for all of us. He conforms to the Will of His Father. That my friend is the great battleground for you and me. Will we conform to God’s Will? Will we do, as HE wants instead of what we want?

That is what being made conformable to his death means when we give up our wants in order to do what He wants. I heard it said this way one time – When the Lord becomes President of your heart not just a resident of your heart.

That is the whole point of the verse to bring us to the place where JESUS is in control.

Make Him president of your Heart Today!

Be Blessed,
Bro. Dewayne
