Matthew 6:14 (KJV)
14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:
Matthew 6:15 (KJV)
15 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
Matthew 18:35 (KJV)
35 So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses.
Mark 11:25 (KJV)
25 And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.
Mark 11:26 (KJV)
26 But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.
Good Morning, Today I want to think about forgiveness. If we are going to go higher in your walk with Jesus, you are going to face hurt and disappointment. Yet, Jesus teaches us we Must forgive. Forgiveness is not an option! It is an absolute must. If we fail to give forgiveness we face so many harmful consequences.
The first consequence is we cannot get our own sins forgiven. The Father will not forgive us if we refuse to forgive others. The Father is so serious about it Jesus gives at minimum the above five verses concerning the subject. He states explicitly the Father will not forgive you.
Think of it, the one who is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, says I will not forgive. I cannot imagine walking around without the Lord’s forgiveness! It will leave you burdened and depressed.
Think of it, because our pride will not let us forgive someone else, we carry the burden of our sins continually. We will become heavy and HARD hearted. That is a horrible life. No Joy and No Peace. It will leave you with a grumbling and griping spirit. That is no way to live.
I am sure somebody is thinking, you have no idea what they did to me. You are right I do not have any idea, but, it does not matter. How dare you, you may think, but that is exactly what Jesus did. Look at these verses:
1 Peter 2:21-24 (KJV)
21 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:
22 Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:
23 Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:
24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
Jesus is our ultimate example of forgiving others and forgiving us! Ask the Lord to help you to forgive, even if you do not feel like it. Make a deliberate choice to forgive like Jesus.
Follow His example today!
Be Blessed,
Bro. Dewayne
