Isaiah 55:6 (KJV)
Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:

I want us to consider this admonition from the Lord. There is great truth here that we must grab and apply to our daily lives.

There are often times we are “nudged” to read our Bibles or to talk with the Lord or just meditate on Him. Most of these times are in the middle of us being “busy.” We tend to pass this off and tell ourselves “we will come back to it.” Then when or if we do, we find that the urgency or intenseness is not there. In fact, there is often a coldness that replaces that “nudge.”

I have come to believe that this is one of the meanings of our verse. We miss out on the privilege of “investing time” in fellowship with our Saviour. We miss out on the nearness of His presence. Often, we miss an important message of hope and strength we so desperately need. All the time we justify our missing out by saying “well the Lord knows I have a lot going on.”

This can happen even when we are reading our Bible. Sometimes a verse will really spring out to us in Bible reading and we are “moved” by it. The message stirs in our soul. But we keep reading because we want to “finish” what the calendar has for us on this day. We tell ourselves we will come back to it. But, when we do, the verse does not move us like before.

We failed to “seek Him while he may be found.” A friend “taught” me something recently. He said when I am reading my Bible, if a verse just jumps out to me, I stop and to study and ponder that verse or thought. He said even if I do not read anything else for that day, it is more important to get what the Lord is wanting to teach me. Wow, I thought. How many times of refreshing have I missed?

So ‘seek Him while He may be found.” Talk to Him while He is near.

 Be Blessed,
