¹⁶  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

 Monday December the 8. Christmas is fast approaching. I share a familiar verse although not known as a typical Christmas verse, I believe it shares the message of Christmas in a tremendous way. God the Father loves us so much that He gave us His only begotten son, Jesus so we might be saved.

 Think of that. He loves us so much that He gave. Often, we think that gift giving originated with the gifts of the Wise Men to our Lord, but the original gift giver is the Heavenly Father. Moreover, we are the recipients of His “Unspeakable Gift.”

 Christmas is not about a cradle in a stable but it is about a cross on Golgotha outside the walls of Jerusalem. Christ came to die for our sin, so that we might be brought back into fellowship with God. Hallelujah, What a Saviour we have in Jesus.

 This Christmas season, make Jesus your personal focus. Gift giving is special and fulfilling. The time with family is rewarding. But in the midst of it all, take time to focus on the real meaning, that God gave us the Greatest Gift of All, Jesus. Remember what the Angel said, “That shalt call His name Jesus for He shall save His people from their sin.”
