Job 2:9-10
9 Then said his wife unto him, Dost thou still retain thine integrity? curse God, and die.
10 But he said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh. What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips.
Notice our verse today contains again the word “integrity”. It is a different Hebrew word than yesterday. Same family tree of words as yesterday but the emphasis of today’s word is different. Our word today has the meaning of innocence.
I believe Job’s wife is asking her husband ‘how long are you going to continue to do right and be right with all of this going on? The last sentence of verse ten is the astounding answer. He did not sin with his mouth.
So many tear down Job’s wife and insinuate that Job was ripping her as well. Yet, if you read it carefully, Job is tenderly reminding his wife that God is good no matter what is going on in our lives. His actions prove his integrity again.
What about you and me?
Be Blessed,
