Job 2:8-10
8 And he took him a potsherd to scrape himself withal; and he sat down among the ashes.

9 Then said his wife unto him, Dost thou still retain thine integrity? curse God, and die.
10 But he said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh. What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips.

Today we will talk about Job’s Wife. She has probably been more blasted than maybe anyone else in Scripture is. She asked this question of Job from a broken heart.

Think of her situation. Here is an outline of the problems she is facing:
  • Her Castle is Destroyed
  • Her Children are Dead
  • Her Companion is Diseased
  • Her Confidence is Devastated
Time and space keep me from expounding on these but think if you were facing what she was facing. You would be rattled too.

Job is in the ashes. That is significant. He is in his place of Worship. The ashes of the altar where he had faithfully sacrificed and given God his all. He gently leads his wife back to God. She finds her husband in a place of worship. He draws her back to worship. This maybe Job’s biggest example of “integrity”.

It is an example to us all.

Be Blessed,
