Verse of the Day

Psalm 63:1-2 (KJV)
1 O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;
2 To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary.
Today we return with David on the run. He is running from Absalom. Not because he is afraid of Absalom but because he is afraid of what will happen to Absalom. The entire time David is on the run he focuses on our God. He knows that he Needs God to intervene.
Even though the outcome David wanted did not come to pass, he keeps his focus on the Lord. Verse two tells us of David’s greatest desire, to see God’s power and glory. Again, just like in this case that does not always work out the way we think it should or want. But, nevertheless we should desire that God get the Glory through His Power.
The word for “glory” here is a word that carries weight and honor. The idea His Glory should carry importance to us, “it should Mean something to us.”
I am afraid that all too often, we forget how important that is. We fail to realize that not only are we robbing ourselves but we fail to be the witness God intended. Maybe it is because we do not recognize His Power and His Glory in the Church. Or we miss the display because we are not there.
Do you long for God’s display of power and glory? David did. He longed for God to be God to him.
So should we!
Be Blessed,
