Psalm 63:8 (KJV)
My soul followeth hard after thee: thy right hand upholdeth me.

Wednesday of Thanksgiving week. Today I want to look at the last part of our verse. It is what Thanksgiving is all about. To thank God for His right hand holding us up!

The right hand in Scripture is the hand of authority. We need His authority in our life. One of the things the Bible is adamant about is Authority. Adrian Rogers wrote a book on ‘Kingdom Authority.” The premise of the book is that God has an order for everything. An order of authority. In the Christian’s life it is Our God (God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit) that is over all and above all. The Bible declares ‘beside me there is no other God.’ He places order and authority in the home and the Church.

The right hand is also the hand of power. The Psalmist is saying everything in my life is dependent upon thy power. He knows that God “created the Heaven and the Earth.” He knows that by Him all things consist. He knows that God has all the “benefits.” He knows that God is the one that has sustained him.

That is what Thanksgiving is about, to remember and “Know” that it is God that has provided for us, cared for us, and that loves us.

 Give Him glory today!

 Be Blessed,
