Verse of the Day
Wednesday
11/05/2025
1 Chronicles 16:34 (KJV)
34 O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever.
It is Wednesday, hump day is how it is referred to by many. For most of us that are saved it is Prayer Meeting day. I want to start out by urging you to be in your place tonight. At your Church, joining in prayer, with your brothers and sisters in Christ, calling on the Lord for the help we all need.
Why, you might ask? My response is found in our verse. “For His mercy endureth forever.” How we need His mercy! How we NEED His help. His provision, His longsuffering, His forgiveness. All of these things are wrapped up in the idea of His mercy enduring forever.
Both the Strong’s Concordance, and Vine’s Expository Dictionary of Old and New Testament Words give a definition of mercy as “loving-kindness.” The word includes three aspects that are always incorporated in the meaning. These three are strength, steadfastness and love.
Vine’s says this “Any understanding of the word that fails to suggest all three inevitably loses some of its richness. “Love” by itself easily becomes sentimentalized or universalized apart from the covenant. Yet “strength” or “steadfastness” suggests only the fulfillment of a legal or other obligation.”
What he is saying is that mercy is a choice of God to bestow on unworthy man. It is not just an emotional thing; it is His choice. Why? Because He loves us. God in His love, strength, and steadfastness, choses to bestow mercy. His mercy is rich and He is rich in mercy and it endures forever. Thank God for His mercy.
Be Blessed,
Bro. Dewayne
