Psalm 70:1-5 (KJV)
1 Make haste, O God, to deliver me; make haste to help me, O LORD.
2 Let them be ashamed and confounded that seek after my soul: let them be turned backward, and put to confusion, that desire my hurt.
3 Let them be turned back for a reward of their shame that say, Aha, aha.
4 Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: and let such as love thy salvation say continually, Let God be magnified.
5 But I am poor and needy: make haste unto me, O God: thou art my help and my deliverer; O LORD, make no tarrying.
Psalm 70, just five short verses, yet a powerful statement. Powerful because David cries out to God in honesty, sincerity, and humility.
Actually, David repeats what he wrote in Psalm 40:13-17. He calls on the Lord to help him, to bring relief to his soul. Like so many experience, David had those that constantly were a “thorn in his side.” Those that desired his hurt. Whether the threat is a real threat of bodily harm, or a threat to someone’s reputation, the grief or anxiety can be the same.
Thankfully, our Lord understands. The Bible tells us, he was a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. David, too, was familiar with those struggles. He was also very “human” when he asked the Lord to help him in a hurry. David felt the weight of the situation. He experienced the hurt of it all.
So often we too, are in the same situation. What are we to do? Go to the Lord? Yes, that is what we know to do. It truly is the only thing. But, just a minute. Is the Lord going to hurry? David said Lord make Haste!
He is saying I need Help Now. But does the Lord hurry? The answer is No! No, He does not hurry, but HE IS ALWAYS ON TIME! His timing is always perfect. Perfect because He has a Plan and He works according to His Plan.
We can magnify the Lord by submitting ourselves to Him and His plan for our lives and rejoice in the fact He thinks about us. He values us so much that He works on us and in us, so He can work through us.
Embrace His Plan today!
Be Blessed,
