Verse of the Day

Proverbs 24:10 (KJV)
10 If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small.
Zephaniah 3:16 (KJV)
16 In that day it shall be said to Jerusalem, Fear thou not: and to Zion, Let not thine hands be slack.
Joshua 1:5 (KJV)
5 There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.
Proverbs 224:10 has always spoken to my heart concerning quitting. I never wanted to be considered as one that could not or would not fight through or withstand attacks of the wicked one. I did not want to be thought of as one that my strength was small. I did not want to be looked upon as a weak soldier of the Cross. I did want to “stand” for the Lord.
Notice the words above that are emphasized. All three words come from the same Hebrew word. The different translations of the word help give us a fuller picture of the meaning of the word.
Simply put, the steps we should take is to one, keep your hands up, just like a boxer is told to keep his hands up so that he can defend himself and then be able to throw a punch. Second, you should keep yourself busy in the work of the Lord. Do not fall behind, keep up with the training regimen. I well remember a drill we had when playing football. Some call it up/downs. My coaches called it running in place. You would run in place until he blew the whistle then you would hit the ground then get up as fast as you can. The goal was to teach you even if knocked down to never quit. Get up and continue to “make a play” until the referee’s whistle blows.
I think it is also significant that there is a promise associated with our word. God told Joshua I will not “fail” thee. I am so glad our Heavenly Father has promised us He Will Not Fail!
Keep on the Firing Line.
Be Blessed,
