Habakkuk 2:2-4 (KJV)
2 And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.
3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.
4 Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith.
Today I want to ask about your Bible. Specifically, are you reading the Word of God daily? Are you reading with understanding? For years, I have heard the instruction to read your Bible through every year. That is great and something we help with by providing a Bible Reading Calendar at Grace Baptist. But I am going to talk with you for the next couple of days about the quality of your reading as opposed to the quantity of your reading.
In our verses above the prophet Habakkuk, was told by the Lord to write it and make it plain so that he may run that “readeth.” The Lord wants us to read His Word in order that we might “run”. The word “run” is a word that means with haste or speedily it also means to guard or it is also translated “footman” as in a soldier that is assigned guard duty.
The Lord is telling Habakkuk to write the orders plainly in order that we might run the race correctly and in our lane. Or the picture of a soldier “walking” guard duty at his assigned post. The Bible gives us instructions to “run the race” to win an incorruptible crown. It all begins with the instructions. Read your Bible today.
Be Blessed,
Bro. Dewayne
