 Psalm 122:1 (KJV)
I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the LORD.

As most of you know, the book of Psalms was the hymn book of the nation of Israel. The Psalm we have before us is one of the “songs of degrees.” These are songs the nation of Israel would sing as they made their way to the Temple to worship.

David starts out by saying “I was glad.” He had the right attitude when it came to going to “Church.” Do you? We often make going to Church a chore. We act as if it is a difficulty in getting everybody ready, getting our act together and then packing the car. But isn’t it amazing how different our attitude is when getting everything ready for our time at the ballpark or on a trip or going to watch our favorite team play a game? You may be thinking that it seems so much easier to do all these other things. Believe me, I understand.  It probably is easier.

One of the reasons is because when you are getting ready to go to God’s house you have an adversary, the devil. He does not want you to go to God’s house. He does not care if you go to all these other places. We must be prepared to overcome this enemy by making all the preparations necessary to go to Church.

The second is we must change our attitude to an attitude of expectancy. We should expect to encounter the Lord in powerful ways that will impact eternity. If we go to Church prepared physically as well as spiritually you will be amazed at the difference it makes.

 Go to Church.

 Be Blessed,
